Here on Page 22, in 1934, Adolf Hitler is the lone signature with a photo affixed to the page showing him on the balcony of the hotel, being saluted by a hundred or more people.
Hitler visited the hotel to view a Jubilee performance of the Passion Play,
Much of the play focused on Jesus' hostile encounters with Jewish leaders, their animosity augmented for dramatic purposes—all of which led Adolf Hitler to call the 300th anniversary performance in 1934 "a convincing portrayal of the menace of Jewry."
More recently, the city leaders of Oberammergau have adopted a more politically correct Passion Play out of respect for Jewish and Muslim residents of the area.
